Facebook will be linking WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram in order to allow messages to travel between the different services
For now, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger have been running as independent and competing products.
Currently, it is impossible to send one text in all the platforms as the applications have no common core.
However, the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg told BBC that they have already begun the work to merge it all.
The merger would mean that a user of one app could communicate directly with anyone on one of the other apps.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
The Facebook founder is reportedly pushing the integration plan to make its trinity of services more useful and increase the amount of time spent on the apps.
“We want to build the best messaging experiences we can; and people want to a message be fast, simple, reliable and private,”Quoted by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
He also added that they are working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks.
According to a report by the New York Times, Zuckerberg’s championing of the plan to connect the messaging system had caused “internal strife” and was part of the reason that the founders of both Instagram and WhatsApp left last year.
