“New Year’s resolutions” are yearly goals that you set for yourself at the beginning of a new year. They usually have to do with fitness, saving money, education, etc.
People often make New Year’s resolutions at the beginning of the year but don’t end up keeping them. That used to happen to me too.
But you are serious about achieving those resolutions then started using a technique that I’m going to describe below.
You are gonna be achieving all of your New Year’s resolutions and feel great!
So here is the technique to help you become a super-resolution achiever: OKR
What Does OKRs Mean?
OKR is goal setting method to help an organization or individual establish high-level, measurable objectives by fixing a set of determining goals and outcomes that can be tracked over the quarter.
The acronym OKR stands for Objectives and Key Results.
- Objectives are memorable qualitative descriptions of what you want to achieve. Objectives should be short, inspirational and engaging. An Objective should motivate and challenge the team
- Key Results are a set of metrics that measure your progress towards the Objective. For each Objective, you should have a set of 3 to 5 Key Results. More than that and no one will remember them.
What is the Purpose of OKR?
OKR act as a framework that helps define your goals (objective) and then track the outcome (key results).
The framework is designed to help individuals establish far-reaching goals in days instead of months.
OKR support a goal or vision and they should also be measurable, flexible, transparent and aspirational.
Ultimately, OKRs help you set goals, often ambitious and then focus on achieving the outcomes over the course of a quarter.
How Can OKR Help In Accomplishing Your New Year Resolution?
1. Helps You Stay Focus With Just One Main Goal.
With OKR method you can only set at max 3 goals for the year.
Why so restrictive?
Because if you try to do more than three things at once, you’ll get lost.
You’ll be lost of track of what’s most important. You’ll start to neglect one of your goals, and then you’ll feel guilty about it.
You should have one really important goal that you’re going to achieve no matter what.
You can set two other goals to work toward as well. Just remember to decide which goal is your “main” one.
2. Keep Tracks of Your Progress.
OKR, helps you review your progress and see if you are going in the right direction to achieving your goal or stagnate.
By that, you can see for yourself how far you have come and if you are not doing as well as you hope then you can make some changes.
3. Turns Resolution Into a Habit.
OKR does not just help you stick to your goal but somehow it turns it into a habit.
The work that you do to achieve your goal will become something that you can do every day to work toward it.
Working on your resolutions every single day is very, very effective.
If you do something every day, it becomes a habit. Soon you won’t even think about it; you’ll just do it naturally, like brushing your teeth.
So, there you have it the best possible way to reach your goal fast and smart.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
